My1st

Galerie Charlot is pleased to present My1st, a group exhibition built around an original and inclusive concept: accompanying first steps into the world of contemporary art, whether as an emerging artist, a curious art lover, or a future collector.

Conceived as a space for transmission, My1st celebrates beginnings: first artistic gestures, first aesthetic encounters, and even the first acquisition of an artwork. The exhibition seeks to make art more accessible, more closely embedded in everyday life, and above all, more open to all.

Driven by the belief that art should not be reserved for an elite, the project brings together works priced under €2,000, with payment facilities available, in order to reduce the social and financial barriers that often limit access to the art world.

My1st also stems from a personal story: that of Valérie Hasson-Benillouche, founder of the gallery, who first discovered art at the age of eighteen by purchasing a drawing by Jules Pascin, made possible through a payment plan. From her early path in science to her experience in fashion, she founded Galerie Charlot in 2010 with the ambition of championing digital and hybrid art practices.

In this sense, My1st embodies her desire to pass on to a new generation what art once offered her: emotion, orientation, and a way of seeing.
