The typewriter evokes a recent past that distorts the digital world. As a kind of standard typography, it functioned as a portable and accessible press, capable of combining writing, speech and publication, as well as the characteristic sound of its keys that makes it a percussion musical instrument. Curator Cristina Freire, a professor at the MAC USP, approached the two faces - historical and artistic - during the Ecos Mecánicos exhibition: a typewriter and an artistic practice. The exhibition explores the use of the typewriter by artists, based on works using typing and its power for nearly a century. From October 27 to December 30, 2018.
