Marie Serruya

Marie Serruya is a visual artist, who develops her imagination and represents the human comedy through different artistic expressions. She is an actress, visual artist, sculptor and director. Born in a family of artists, her childhood was shaped by the successive discovery of theater, cinema, pho- tography, drawing, painting, the creative process, fashion, and music. She developed a keen sense of observation of the world around her, the source of her multiform expres- sion. Marie left school at the age of 16 and began a professional acting career at the age of 17. Inspired by theater, masks and faces, her portraits modeled in clay, enamel, watercolor, gouache, gold leaf, bronze, video and other media, miniature or gigantic, static or animated, are the guiding thread of her work. Her approach is marked by her need to put the public in action through her works. Her work aims to develop a total interactivity between the spectator and the work and uses humor and play as a primary means of expression.
